Samsung America's internal team was looking to expand physical presence and wanted a feature mockup to convince internal stakeholders of the program’s merit. We worked the brief and developed the idea of extending the SmartThings HomeIQ program through partner retail geolocation.
SmartThings HomeIQ content incentivizes homeowners to purchase more SmartThings devices with tips and video tutorials focused on combining the various SmartThings sensors and creating personalized app interactions centered on the user’s needs and environment. Users receive a score based on how many sensors they own and how the sensors interact with each other to make a home smarter, and the HomeIQ app suggests exciting or novel ways to combine the hardware a customer already owns.
Partnering with a large retailer like Best Buy gives Samsung a physical presence, and with branded content in the SmartThings app, the retailer becomes a source of authority in the smart home space.
